Blue Ridge Parkway Tunnel Wall, watercolor, $395, unframed
Size of painting: 10 3/4 x 7 1/4 inches
I did this painting in November 2008, after a trip the previous October to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. There are many tunnels through the mountains on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the outer walls are made from these beautiful stones, which are covered in ivy, moss, lichen, and weeds. I think they are beautiful, (I especially love lichen!) and that's how it turned into a painting of a wall!
The first image below shows the painting alone. You may click on the image for a larger view.
The second image shows the painting as I have framed it. I chose double
matting in dark gray and green, and a frame that is brownish bronze
with a slightly metallic sheen to it. All
materials are of archival quality.
